Live from Mesa
Ok, technically I’m waking up in Phoenix today but it’s pretty close to Sloan Park in Mesa. And yes, today is the first Cubs home game of spring training. Can’t wait to go check out our new season tickets! But let’s get serious, shall we?
The Chicago Dog, in all it’s glory is really a meal unto itself. I mean, there’s vegis, lots of vegis, meat and bread….that’s a meal. So, of course I went to Wikipedia and apparently the Chicago Dog was invented somewhere around 1929 by Fluky’s in Chicago. It’s “dragged through the garden” style is what makes it so unique. My question is, let’s say you’re someone who doesn’t like onions and you order a Chicago Dog without the onions (or whatever ingredient you don’t like or want on the dog), is it still considered a Chicago dog? I know this is mind-boggling stuff but it just goes to show you how slow of a news morning it is on day 2 of spring training.
I’m headed to the game today with my 3 (almost 4) year old son. He has been begging me to take him to a game for the last month and I’ve had to keep telling him there wasn’t a game to go to. Try explaining that to a 3 year old.
