Postgame Wrap: Cubs v Rockies/Royals – Split Squad
What a better way to spend the day then at two separate spring training, split squad, games. Actually, it was a little hectic getting to both games but these are problems that I’m sure a lot of people wish they had.
In the matchup against the Rockies, both Heyward and Rizzo had monster blasts. This first video is of Heyward’s blast:
Here is a video of Rizzo’s bomb which I think may still be going:
The Cubs ended up dropping the game against the Rockies by the score of 2-4 due to back-to-back two run innings in the fifth and sixth innings against Cubs pitchers Justin Grimm and Neil Ramirez.
In the Cubs game against the Royals it was Addison Russell that stole the show blasting a two run home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the fifth. I arrived at Sloan Park just as it happened and I didn’t quite have the cat-like reflexes to get video on that one. The Cubs ended up losing the game 2-3 with Andury Acevedo being charged with all three runs in the top of the sixth. Tommy La Stella left the game early with right calf soreness. No news on the injury yet but let’s hope it’s nothing serious.
