Postgame Wrap: Cubs v Dodgers – Spring Training Game 7
Another fantastic, almost chilly, day at Sloan Park. I know spring training just started but, I was thinking about it yesterday, and I’m really going to be sad when it ends. Although, when it ends the regular season begins and that is awesome!
The Cubs fell short to the Dodgers today, scoring three runs to the Dodgers’ eight runs. Below are a few interesting highlights.
Kyle Hendricks went three innings allowing two hits, no runs and striking out two batters. A good performance in what was otherwise a not-so-good day for Cubs pitchers.
Schwarber was 2-3 today and hit a towering “Schwar-shot” that went just foul down the right-field line. When he gets a hold of one he really crushes it.
Kris Bryant was 2-3 today with two RBIs and a home run, his first of the spring. Here is video of his RBI single (I got screened out by someone walking down the aisle on his home run but check out Bleacher Nation for a nice video of the blast):
David Ross also went 2-3, including a sweet home run blast. I was hoping he’d hop on the motorized scooter to get around the bases, but no luck. Here’s a video of the blast:
The wheels started to fall off as soon as the Cubs started substituting in replacement players but, again, it’s spring training. Nothing to get too worried about. The guys that will be in the big leagues, and their backups, have looked pretty good so far this spring. It’s encouraging to see how things are starting to unfold among those guys.
