Pregame Chatter: Cubs v Padres; Schwarber/Candelario Batting 4/5
Good morning, Cubs fans! It’s a beautiful day for a Cubs game and really, what day isn’t?
The Cubs take a trip to the west side of Phoenix today to visit Peoria and will take on the Padres at Peoria Sports Complex. It’s hard to believe that it’s almost the midway point of Cactus League play in Arizona, with fourteen games down and fifteen games remaining. The Cubs will still have two games in Las Vegas against the Mets and one in Anaheim against the Angels before opening day on Monday, April 4th, against the Angels. Twenty more days!
Here’s the lineup for today:
Clayton Richard (L) @ Padres – Tyson Ross (R)
1. Dexter Fowler (S) CF
2. Jason Heyward (L) RF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Kyle Schwarber (L) LF
5. Jeimer Candelario (S) 3B
6. Javier Baez (R) 2B
7. Tim Federowicz (R) C
8. Arismendy Alcantara (S) DH
9. Munenori Kawasaki (L) SS
I’m excited to see this lineup take the field today. Seriously – Fowler, Heyward, Rizzo, Schwarber, Candelario, Baez; that’s just plain sick and it’s honestly a lineup that many teams would love to have during the regular season and now we have it….in spring training. Cubs fans, take it all in, for these are good days.
