LHP Erik Jokich Claimed Off Waivers by Marlins
The Miami Marlins have claimed left-hand pitcher Erik Jokich off waivers from the Chicago Cubs after the team moved him from the 40-man roster. He has been optioned to Miami AAA affiliate New Orleans.
Jokich was drafted by the Cubs in the 11th round of the 2010 draft and made a brief four-outing appearance in the majors in 2014. He was in spring camp this year for the Cubs but only pitched in two games totaling three innings. Since being drafted in 2010, Jokich’s ERA has progressively gotten worse, topping out last year in AAA Iowa at 4.37, and his K/BB fell to a four-year low of 1.70.
The Cubs 40-man roster now stands at thirty-nine players.
