Montero Placed on 15-Day DL, Tim Federowicz Called Up From Iowa

Miguel Montero has officially been placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to Monday, April 25th. Miguel was held out of the game on a last minute lineup change by Joe Maddon on Tuesday.

Catcher Tim Federowicz has been called up from AAA Iowa to temporarily fill the roster spot. You may recall that Tim had a great spring posting a slash of .324/.361/.618. So far this season in Iowa he’s hitting .303/.415/.515.

It’s possible that this opens the door to bring Willson Contreras up to the majors but for now it looks like Joe is choosing to go with Tim, who already has some major league experience when he was with the Dodgers from 2011-2014.
