Kris Bryant Injury: MRI Confirms Mild Sprain, Status Day-to-Day
An MRI confirmed that Kris Bryant has a mild ankle sprain and, fortunately, there were no additional injuries. He is considered day-to-day and will definitely not play today. He may take the entire weekend series off against the Braves, particularly since the Cubs play Pittsburgh and Washington next week and those series look, at least this early in the season, like the more important games.

While Kris is out we’ll likely see a combination of Jorge Soler and Matt Szczur in left field. At third base I would expect that Joe will rotate between Javier Baez and Tommy La Stella. We’ve seen these guys play these positions already this year so I think the Cubs should be fine without Kris, at least for a couple games. We’ll update you if anything changes.
