Cubs Rained Out, Lackey to Pitch Sunday Against Braves
The Chicago Cubs game against the Atlanta Braves scheduled for today has officially been postponed. There is no official make-up date yet. We will let you know once a new date has been set.
John Lackey will start tomorrow’s game now instead of Jason Hammel. If weather permits, the game tomorrow will start at 1:20 PM CDT.
Monday, the Cubs travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Pirates for the first time this year. Jason Hammel will be the starting pitcher in the first game. Kyle Hendricks will be skipped in the rotation and Jake Arrieta will pitch on Tuesday (which is cool because I’ll be at that game!). Jon Lester will pitch on Wednesday for the Cubs in their final game at Pittsburgh.
Kyle Hendricks will pitch in the series opener against the Nationals on Thursday, May 5th. So, for now at least, the rotation has been changed and it’s uncertain when or if Joe will change it back. Our assumption as of now is that Lackey will pitch on Friday against the Nationals, followed by Hammels and then back to the top with Arrieta. We’ll let you know if anything changes.
