Chicago Cubs Lineup: Lackey v. Scherzer, J-Hey Starting in Right Field
Last night’s game turned out to be a pitching duel for most of the night, or at least until the Cubs broke off a three-run eighth inning. The Cubs and Nationals lead the league in pitching and today should provide another example of why. John Lackey will be matching up against Max Scherzer in this mid-day duel at Wrigley Field.
Jason Heyward made his first appearance last night since being held out with a sore right wrist. He came on in place of Dexter Fowler, who got tossed from the game in the third inning.
Apparently, everything is fine with Jason and hopefully he’s fully healed and ready to start pounding the ball. He’s hitting .207/.311/.250 on the year so far, which is a drop off from last year when he slashed an impressive .293/.359/.439 with the Cardinals. His wrist had been bothering him ever since he injured it during the Cubs’ second series of the year in Arizona.
Here’s the Chicago Cubs lineup for the game today against the Nationals at 1:20 CDT:
