Ben Zobrist (aka, Zorilla) Named NL Co-Player of the Week
Ben Zobrist was named National League Co-Player of the Week today along with Bartolo Colon, who thrilled baseball fans around the league with his first ever home run at age 42 (video below).
Ben had an incredible week at the right time as he led the Cubs to wins over two of the top teams in the National League. He hit four home runs, including two in one game against the Nationals, drove in 15 RBIs and scored eight runs. He slashed .360/.455/.880 for the week.
One of my favorite moments of the week, and a head-scratcher at that, was when our old friend Dusty Baker made the decision to walk Anthony Rizzo to load the bases for Ben. He promptly hit a two-run single (watch highlights here) to put the Cubs ahead 2-0 in Thursday’s game against the Nationals. Congratulations goes out to Zorilla!
