Cubs Clips: WATCH Cubs Win 8th Straight, Zobrist Stays Hot, Lester Gets Win

Last night was an up and down affair. It looked like the Cubs were going to blow the Padres out, a couple different times, but the Padres kept fighting back.

Here are complete highlights from the Cubs 8th straight win last night.

To start things off, Kris Bryant hits a double in the bottom of the third to drive in two runs. Next, Ben Zobrist – who went 4-for-4 on the night – steps up and knocks in Bryant and then he does it again the very next inning as he drives in Anthony Rizzo. Cubs lead 6-1.

Jon Lester, with the exception of the Padres two-run fifth inning, was effective again last night and held the Padres to three runs in his six innings.

Addison Russell comes up in the bottom of the seventh inning and puts a sweet stroke on the ball for a 2-run triple and it felt like that would be enough. The Cubs were up 8-3 going into the eighth inning.

All that changed when, after Justin Grimm loaded the bases, Adam Warren came on and gave up a grand slam to Alex Dickerson. Suddenly it was a one-run game at 8-7. Hector Rondon came in relief in the ninth inning and slammed the door on the Padres. Cubs win their 8th straight.
