Cubs Clips: WATCH Rizzo HR, Russell’s Bomb, Arrieta Domination, Maddon Comments
Usually when the wind is gusting in off the lake at Wrigley there are rarely home runs and it’s very likely to be a low scoring, pitcher friendly game. Well, that was before the 2016 Chicago Cubs. Now it seems like the Cubs have no trouble scoring in wind, rain, and probably sleet and snow.
Last week Kris Bryant crushed a home run into a strong wind (watch it here if you missed it) and yesterday Addison Russell and Anthony Rizzo did it again. Russell’s HR was particularly impressive because the wind was blowing hard straight out of left field.
To start, here is Joe discussing the game and the Cubs’ performance. This clip includes highlights of Rizzo, Russell and Jake. I’ll include a few more clip below too.
Anthony Rizzo’s home run was a towering shot that seemed to stay in the air for a long time, but when it came down, we all know where it landed.
Here’s a photo I snapped as Anthony was rounding first base while the crown raucously celebrates in the background.
And finally, Jake Arrieta discusses his dominating performance. He gave up three hits in the fourth inning and those were the only hits he gave up all day.
