Cubs Sign Former All-Star Closer Joe Nathan
The Chicago Cubs signed former all-star closer, Joe Nathan, to a Major League contract today. He is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to be fully recovered sometime after the All-Star break. The Cubs immediately placed Joe on the 60-day DL, so there’s no impact to the 40-man roster.
In his last full major league season, Nathan pitched for the Tigers in 2014, where he posted a 4.81 ERA with 35 saves in 62 appearances.
Here’s an entertaining, somewhat relevant video where Joe Nathan strikes out Ben Zobrist on perhaps the worst called strike ever….Joe Maddon wasn’t very entertained.
