Injury Update: Jason Heyward MRI Results – Good News
In case you missed it, in yesterday’s game Jason Heyward dove head first into the outfield wall on his way to making an incredible catch. The play happened on the very first Giants at-bat and led to Jason having to leave the game with an injury to his right torso/abdomen region.
Jason had an MRI today and he has a contusion near his rib area (ESPN). He’s considered day-to-day and no DL, which is great news. As we speculated earlier today, Matt Szczur has been activated. Neil Ramirez has been designated for assignment.
Matt Szczur’s return will help soften the hit of losing Heyward, if only for a few days. Jorge Soler should see more playing time in Heyward’s absence. Jorge performed well yesterday, showing glimpses of his incredible potential as he hit one home run and made another incredible catch.
So all-in-all, good news — except for Neil Ramirez.
