Report: Shane Victorino Released by Cubs
It was always a long shot that Shane Victorino would make it to the Cubs big league team when he signed a minor league deal this spring with the Cubs. Well, now we know his fate and if you’re a Shane Victorino fan the news isn’t good.
Shane Victorino was released. Will have more details later. He was on Iowa #Cubs roster

Shane has been injury prone over the last few years and he’s 35 years old (that’s really old in baseball years). Last year he batted .230 with one home run in 73 games and in spring training it felt like it was really just a question of how long he would last within the organization. He sustained a right calf injury in spring training and was later sent to AAA Iowa where he hit .233/.324/.367 in 30 at-bats.
At this point we’re uncertain of where he will land, we just know it won’t be anywhere with the Cubs.
