Chicago Cubs Lineup: Lackey Looking to Complete the Sweep
The Cubs have had no problems handling the upstart Philadelphia Phillies so far in this series. Compare that to last year, when the Phillies came to Wrigley in July and not only swept the Cubs, but no-hit them. No, the Cubs will be going for the sweep today and it couldn’t come at a better time, following the 4-5 road trip.
John Lackey (4-2, 3.38 ERA) had a rough start to the season, posting a 4.97 ERA in the first month. Fortunately for the Cubs, John is starting to play more like the pitcher we saw playing for the Cardinals last year — before the Cubs signed him from their rival — and he’s posted a 2.25 ERA so far in May.
Jorge Soler gets the day off as Matt Szczur, who needs some playing time after returning from injury, will slot in at the left field position.
