Cubs’ Prospect Eloy Jimenez Dazzles in Futures Game (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)
Back in August of 2013 the Chicago Cubs signed Eloy Jimenez who was the number one international prospect at the age of 16. Eloy (19) hails from the Dominican Republic and has spent his time in the Cubs minor league system over the last few years.
Jimenez is currently playing outfield for the Low A South Bend Cubs. He’s slashing an impressive .332/.372/.527 with 10 home runs over 336 plate appearances. He leads the Midwest League in total bases with 165 and is a big reason the SB Cubs are sporting a 54-33 record for the 2016 season.
So, it’s not surprising at all that he made the 2016 All-Star Futures game. Bottom line, this kid is a monster with a ton of upside potential. He’s 19 years old and he just tore it up against the best players in the minor leagues. He went 2-for-3 with 2 runs and 4 RBIs, including one astronomical home run and an amazing grab in the outfield (Box Score).
