Chicago Cubs Lineup: Hammel Fighting for 8th Win, Bryant in RF, Zobrist Batting Fourth
The Chicago Cubs (54-35) look to build on yesterday’s strong start to the second half behind Jason Hammel (7-5, 3.46 ERA) today. Jason hasn’t notched a win since June 4 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Now would be a good time for Jason to pull things together and get his 8th win of the year.
Ben Zobrist has shifted back to the four spot in the lineup today, a position that Joe likes him in and one where he’s been highly effective protection for Anthony Rizzo. The only problem with moving Ben out of the lead-off spot it that leaves the Cubs slightly exposed with Tommy La Stella batting first in the order. Tommy hasn’t had much success batting lead-off, going 0-for-7 with 4Ks in his last two games where he’s batted first.
Willson Contreras moves out to left field today with Miguel Montero catching for Hammel. Jason Heyward will stay in the sixth spot where’s he’s been a lot more productive for the Cubs lately.
