Chicago Cubs Lineup: Arrieta on the Hill; Szczur, Soler In; Dex, Heyward Rest
The Chicago Cubs (72-41), coming off a dramatic walk-off win last night against the St. Louis Cardinals (60-55), will take on the Cardinals again today in the second of their four-game series at Wrigley Field. Jake Arrieta (13-5, 2.59 ERA) will take the mound for the Cubs and he’ll be looking to build on his recent dominating, eight inning shut-out performance against the Athletics.
Joe Maddon has an intriguing lineup going today, partly due to the late game last night to be sure. Both Dexter Fowler and Jason Heyward will get a rest today. Matt Szczur will play center field and bat in the lead-off spot, while Jorge Soler will bat clean-up and play right field.
Ben Zobrist will also sit today and Javier Baez will settle in at second base, hitting eighth.
It’s raining right now at Wrigley so hopefully things clear up and the game goes on as scheduled.
