Chicago Cubs Lineup: Cahill Making Spot-Start, Coghlan in Left, Montero Catching
Trevor Cahill (1-3, 3.07 ERA) is set to make his first spot-start for the Chicago Cubs (73-43) this season as the Cubs take on the Milwaukee Brewers (52-64) in the first game of a scheduled double-header at Wrigley Field today.
Cahill went on the DL with a knee injury way back on July 9 and has been rehabbing at Triple-A Iowa since July 18. In 19 innings at Iowa, Trevor has a 4.58 ERA and 1.88 WHIP. Both numbers are a bit high but we suspect that Trevor was toying with his delivery and timing while rehabbing so we don’t believe there’s any real reason to be concerned. We’ll find out today.
Behind Trevor is the usual line-up, with Chris Coghlan in left field and Miguel Montero, who’s seen less and less playing time since the arrival of Willson Contreras, behind home plate and batting eighth in the lineup.
Let’s play two!
