Chicago Cubs Lineup: Arrieta Pitching, Szczur in Center, Baez at Second, Dex Gets Rest
Well here we are, one game away from another August series sweep by the Chicago Cubs who’ve already swept three series so far this month. And there is no other pitcher I’d rather have on the mound than Jake Arrieta (14-5, 2.55 ERA). A win today would catapult the Cubs to a 14-2 record in August.
It looks like Joe Maddon is already in the mindset to start giving guys rest by rotating the lineup from day-to-day.
Matt Szczur steps in at center field for Dexter Fowler, who’s getting some rest today. This is the third time in the last week that Dex has gotten rest.
Jason Heyward will also get the day off today and Ben Zobrist moves from second to right field to cover. That leaves Jorge Soler, who’s been scorching hot since his return from the DL, slashing .379/.438/.828 with 4 home runs, to field in left.
Javier Baez is in at second, which we always love because when Javy is in anything is possible.
