Chicago Cubs Lineup: Hammel Looks to Continue Scoreless Streak, Baez at 3rd, Bryant in LF
Of all the pitchers for the Chicago Cubs (78-44), Jason Hammel (13-5, 2.75 ERA) may be the hottest post All-Star break. He’s riding a 22 inning scoreless streak and is 6-0 since the break with a 0.95/2.99/3.90 slash line of ERA/FIP/xFIP. There was a lot of chatter about whether Jason could be effective in the second half, particularly since his 1st/2nd half ERA for the past two years was 2.86/5.10 in 2015 and 3.01/4.31 in 2014. So far so good in 2016.
Kris Bryant, who’s been tearing it up all season and yesterday hit an enormous 469 foot HR, is in at left field today, while Javy Baez settles in at third base.
Jorge Soler is in right field, in place of Jason Heyward who’s been given the weekend off after struggling all season at the plate.
