Chicago Cubs Lineup: Hendricks Pitching, Wonder-Kid Russell Looks to Strike Again, Soler’s Back

Kyle Hendricks (11-7, 2.16 ERA) officially has the lowest ERA in all of baseball. For the Chicago Cubs (80-45) he leads a team that ranks number one in starting pitching ERA at 2.85. As of now, he’s certainly one of the top two or three pitchers that look to be in contention for the Cy Young Award. He’s starting for the Cubs today as he looks to continue his domination.

Addison Russell, who’s been on tear lately hitting five home runs in his last five games while batting .350, will be trying to see just how far he can go with his current streak. It’s a perfect time for him to be hitting his stride too, as the Cubs come down the home stretch of the season. He certainly seems to be getting primed up for the playoffs.

Jorge Soler is back, after taking a few days to rest since sustaining a foul ball off his leg. Good to have him back in the lineup, he’s been tearing it up for the Cubs since his return from the DL.

Anthony Russell (um, this is what I get for posting while I eat breakfast while endlessly thinking about how incredibly awesome Addison Russell is, seriously, I can’t get it out of my head…of course, I meant to write Anthony Rizzo.) gets a rare day off today, with Kris Bryant filling in at first base. Hmm, one MVP candidate fills in for another. That’s nice.
