Chicago Cubs Lineup: Hendricks Pitching, Javy Leading Off Playing 2B, Fowler Off, Szczur in CF
Kyle Hendricks (12-7, 2.19 ERA) has the lowest ERA in all of baseball. He’s been so good this year, and incredibly consistent too. He hasn’t given up more than four earned runs all year and that happened twice, both times on or before May 17. Since then, he’s given up three runs twice out of 18 games. If Kyle can keep this up he will certainly be in the Cy Young Award conversation and that would be very exciting for the Chicago Cubs (83-47) considering he’s 26 and under team control through 2020.
Javier Baez is playing second base today and batting lead off as Ben Zobrist gets some rest. It’s the fourth time this season that Javy bats first and what a bat to have in the lead-off spot. And then, followed by Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Jorge Soler. That’s just ridiculously awesome.
Dexter Fowler will have the night off and Matt Szczur takes his place in center field. Matt will be batting eighth in the lineup tonight for the Cubs.
