Chicago Cubs Lineup: Montgomery Pitching, Coghlan Returns, Battling the Giants

Mike Montgomery (4-5, 2.60 ERA) is set to make his third start as a member of the Chicago Cubs (85-47) tonight as they take on the San Francisco Giants (72-60) at 7:05 PM CT. Montgomery has given up only four earned runs in his first two starts, combining for a 3.86 ERA. The Cubs have won both of those games.

Chris Coghlan has been activated off the DL for tonight’s game and he’ll be starting in left field. It’s great that the Cubs now have both Coghlan and Tommy La Stella to choose from over the rest of the season. It’ll be interesting to watch and see how Joe Maddon goes about utilizing each of the lefties and who will get the nod once the postseason roster is set for the NLDS.
