Chicago Cubs Lineup: Arrieta Pitching, Bryant at First Base, Contreras Catching for Jake
In case you missed it, or even if you didn’t, yesterday was a whirlwind of excitement and joy as the Chicago Cubs (94-53) won in walk-off fashion and then proceeded to party in celebration of that win and, more importantly, to commemorate their clinching of the National League Central Division.
Today, Jake Arrieta (17-6, 2.91 ERA) will be pitching against the Milwaukee Brewers (66-82) in what may be, quite literally, a hangover game for the Cubs. We’ll see how good Jake is after a night of partying it up.
Joe Maddon is mixing things up again today. Tommy La Stella will lead-off for the Cubs today with Kris Bryant back in the lineup at first base, filling in for Anthony Rizzo and batting second in the order.
Albert Almora, who had a monster 2-run home run in yesterday’s incredible win, is in at center field for Dexter Fowler. Willson Contreras is behind the plate, catching for Jake Arrieta, and Javy Baez is in at shortstop for Addison Russell.
