Chicago Cubs Lineup vs. Reds: Closing in on Best Record in National League with Lackey on the Hill
The Chicago Cubs (96-55) currently have a magic number of 3 to achieve their second major goal of the 2016 season, win the best record in the National League and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, the National League playoffs, that is.
John Lackey (9-8, 3.42 ERA) will be leading the way tonight for the Cubs as he looks to get his first win since August 9 against the Los Angeles Angels. He’ll be doing it with the full support of mostly regulars in tonight’s lineup.
Addison Russell will get the night off tonight and Javier Baez will slide over from third base, where he played last night, to shortstop to fill in for Addi. Chris Coghlan will take over in left field, where Kris Bryant played last night. Kris Bryant is in at third base. Miguel Montero is catching tonight for John Lackey.
