Jon pitched 37 2/3 innings in the month with a 0.48 ERA – compared to 1.41 ERA when he won the award in June. He posted a 5-0 record for the month.
Lester’s performance down the stretch has him in place to be a strong contender for the National League Cy Young award. For the season, Jon tied a career high with 19 wins and posted a career low ERA of 2.44.
For the year, Cubs’ pitchers have won four of the six National League Pitcher of the Month awards. Two went to Lester, Jake Arrieta won in April and Kyle Hendricks won in August.
