Cubs News & Notes – 12/13/16: Cubs Tickets On Sale Tomorrow, CSN to Replay Playoff Wins, Jansen a Dodger

You may have noticed that I haven’t posted anything the last two days and I just wanted to reassure you that I’m still here. The fact is, there is so little going on right now that if I posted something it would just be a regurgitation of past happenings. I’m also in the midst of working on a few strategic changes for the website but there’s nothing to announce – yet – so I need time to get that stuff done. So, I am here and changes are coming but right now there isn’t all that much happening in the Cubs’ kingdom.

  • The Cubs announced that 8-game and 14-game flex packs will go on sale starting tomorrow – Wednesday. Here is the official press release from the Cubs:

Press Release | December 12th, 2016

Beginning Wednesday, December 14, Chicago Cubs fans can get first access to tickets to see the 2016 World Series Champions play at Wrigley Field. Fans will have the opportunity to see some of the hottest matchups of the 2017 season by purchasing Cubs 8-game packs and Cubs 14-game flex packs before single game tickets go on sale in February.

These multi-game packages are the team’s most extensive ticket offering before the holiday season in recent years, featuring tickets to popular summer, Friday and weekend games. Fans also can catch rivalry contests with the Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as Interleague matchups with rare visits from the Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.

Cubs 8-game packs and Cubs 14-game flex packs go on sale at www.cubs.com/packs this Wednesday at noon CST.

Cubs 8-game packs

Cubs 8-game packs provide a choice of four different pre-selected, eight-game plans, with each option tailored to different fan interests. Options include the “Friday Pack,” featuring eight Friday games throughout the season; the “Coast Pack,” featuring home games against east coast and west coast teams; the “Rivals Pack,” featuring matchups with the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and NL Central Division foes; and the “Summer Pack,” featuring games during the summer months in June, July and August.

Cubs 8-game packs are available in the reserved seating bowl of Wrigley Field. Fans must order the same number of tickets for each of the eight games in their package. Prices start at just $175 before service fees and City and County amusement taxes for a “Coast Pack” in the Upper Deck Reserved Outfield, with other prices varying based on plan and location.

Cubs 14-game flex packs

Fans looking to customize their ticket package can choose the Cubs 14-game flex packs. This package allows fans to select from two Marquee games, which include Interleague matchups against the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays or the Crosstown Cup Series vs. the Chicago White Sox. The package also includes the Wednesday, April 12, Platinum game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, which will serve as the “ring ceremony” game where players are presented with their 2016 World Series Rings. Cubs 14-game flex packs are available in both the Budweiser Bleachers and reserved seating bowl at Wrigley Field. Prices start at just $294 in the Upper Deck Reserved Outfield before service fees and City and County amusement taxes, with other prices varying based on plan and location. Overall, fans can select from 78 total games when purchasing the Cubs 14-game flex packs.

“Following a World Championship season during which we saw tremendous demand, these Cubs 8-game packs and Cubs 14-game flex packs are a great way to secure tickets to our most popular matchups before single game tickets go on sale in February,” said Cubs Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Colin Faulkner.

Tickets may be purchased online through www.cubs.com/packs, by calling 1-800-THE-CUBS (1-800-843-2827) or by speaking with the Fan Services team at 773-388-8270. Mastercard is the preferred payment of the Chicago Cubs.

  • CSN will be replaying all 11 of the Chicago Cubs’ postseason victories over the holidays. What better way to spend the holidays with family and friends than to get a toasty fire going, grab your favorite beverage and re-watch the Cubs win the World Series all over again. The replays will start on December 22 and end December 26. The full schedule can be viewed here.
  • The Kenley Jansen sweepstakes have finally ended and for all the speculation surrounding where Jansen ‘could’ go, he ends up staying with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He’s reportedly agreed to a five-year, $80 million contract. So, when you add up the salary of the top three closers – Melancon, Chapman and Jansen – they combine to a total of $224.5 million. That’s insane.
