Watch: CI Exclusive Video of Kyle Schwarber Patrolling Left Field at Sloan
It may have been facetious, but the lone comment on last week’s video of Kyle Schwarber pounding BP homers at Sloan Park requested some footage of him patrolling left field. You ask, we answer. Well, sometimes.
Wearing a t-shirt and shorts, War Bear is moving free and easy (link is to video of some running/cutting drills) as he tracks down flies and liners. The brace on his left knee is almost invisible against the leggings he’s got on, but you can see it if you look closely. Doesn’t matter much, as those things are so light and mobile that you almost forget you’ve got them on after a while.
Because shagging balls — hehe, I said “shagging balls” — like this is the fielding equivalent of soft toss, there’s not really much to draw from it. Other than the fact that Schwarber really does look pretty fluid out there. He’s also looking a bit more stout than I’d thought he would after commenting on his svelte appearance at CubsCon. Again, that’s the least of my worries. I remain convinced that he’ll be perfectly adequate in left.
Not that his defense is of much concern or consequence when he can do this:
