Cubs Clip Fix (3/6/17): Kyle Schwarber Ran Fast and Jason Heyward Hit a Baseball Far

Monday afternoon brought us a fitting end to the Jason Heyward Hit Watch. Sure, it was only 11 Spring Training games, but it felt like we might never get to see the results of those swing changes. If you’re one for results, check out this big home run in the 2nd inning:

Heyward wasn’t done there, but we’ll get back to that in a minute. First, Ben Zobrist singled in a run and the dude sitting next to me clearly shouted “Nice, Zorb!” Seriously, listen. It happened, I swear. Oh, and then Anthony Rizzo scored a run on an error.

ZORB!!!

The runs came pouring on for the Cubs in the top of the 4th. Heyward drove in Kyle Schwarber and Kris Bryant with a rope-shot opposite-field double down the left field line. Soon after that, Munenori Kawasaki hit another double to clear the bases.

And if that wasn’t enough excitement for you, I know your cup will overflow with this only-somewhat-temporarily out of focus shot of Schwarber mashing a triple that hit off the wall in center field.

More important is Schwarber hustling around the bags and looking good doing it. Later in the 5th, Zorb (aka Ben Zobrist, but you knew that, right?) hit a scorching double down the first base line to score Ian Happ, who had come in to pinch run for Schwarber.
