Cubs Clip Fix (3/14/17): Contreras Goes Deep, Russell Doubles in Two Runs, Heyward RBI Double, More
If you happened to catch our recap from today’s game, you already know that the Cubs tied the Brewers for their fourth no-decision this spring. No need to dwell on that because opening night for the Cubs is less than three weeks away and then there will be no more ties.
Well, I guess there still might be one. Whatever.
In the meantime, we get to watch the regular starters get more and more playing time on their way to said opening day. Let’s kick off today’s clip fix with Willson Contreras in the bottom of the 2nd inning crushing his third home run this spring, a deep drive to right-center field.
In the bottom of the 3rd, the Cubs continued their offensive assault. This time it was Addison Russell driving in two runs with a rope-shot double down the left field line, followed by Jason Heyward knocking an RBI double to left-center. Contreras then singled to drive in his second run of the game.
