Cubs Paint Town Gold on Off-Day at Multiple Appearances Around Chicago
There’s certainly no question about the Cubs’ popularity around Chicago — or the country, for that matter — and yesterday was a perfect example as several players participated in events around town on their day off.
Kris Bryant could be seen bashing baseballs into the Chicago River (full video here) during a batting practice event held by Red Bull. Kyle Schwarber was hanging out in a display window at Macy’s before signing autographs. Mike Montgomery, Willson Contreras, and Anthony Rizzo surprised some travelers at O’Hare as part of a promotion sponsored by American Airlines and Mastercard.
Meanwhile, they were naming a street after Javy Baez at Humboldt Park. And let’s not forget the manager. Joe Maddon was busy gracing the cover of Michigan Avenue magazine. An all-around great day to see your favorite Cubs having some fun, painting the town gold.
