Watch: Eloy Jimenez Caps Three-Hit Game with Two-Run Blast
Carolina League pitchers haven’t been giving Eloy Jimenez much to hit since he rejoined the Pelicans after rehabbing a shoulder injury, and for good reason. Despite a walk rate that’s roughly 10 points higher than his career average, the massive outfielder has launched 5 home runs and boasts a .992 OPS. That’s in only 20 games, mind you.
And yes, I realize that the walks help his OBP and thus, his OPS. It’s just that you’d think a young guy might get a little antsy and start expanding. Not this young guy.
Whether they were missing spots or just trying to beat him over the plate Thursday night, Carolina Mudcats pitchers stood no chance against the massive outfield. Jimenez walked in his second at-bat, singled in his next two, then capped his evening with this shot.
