Cubs Prospects Alzolay, Bote, and Stinnett Named AFL Fall Stars
There were three familiar names on the East roster when the Arizona Fall League released the rosters for its annual “Fall Star” game. Cubs prospects Adbert Alzolay, David Bote, and Jake Stinnett have been selected to represent the Mesa Solar Sox in this year’s exhibition.
Alzolay, who we recently looked at as a potential arm to help the Cubs’ bullpen woes, has posted a 0.90 ERA in 10 innings pitched with a 11:3 K:BB ratio. Bote, who our own Todd Johnson profiled as a potential breakout player, has been on fire this fall. The versatile defender is slashing .391/.462/.696 with four home runs and 10 RBI for Mesa. Stinnett has posted a 2.45 ERA in 7.1 innings pitched with a 10:3 K:BB ratio.
While the Cubs have obviously traded a lot of their prospect depth in recent years to strengthen the MLB roster, it’s always exciting to watch the next crop try and rise though the ranks.
