Roster News: Cubs Recall RHP Cory Mazzoni, Option Luke Farrell to AAA
After surrendering walk-off home runs in back-to-back games, Luke Farrell has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa, with RHP Cory Mazzoni coming up to take his place. Farrell only appeared in six games after joining the MLB roster on April 20th when Eddie Butler hit the disabled list. Farrell didn’t surrender an earned run in his first three outings, but his last three outings have seen five earned runs and three home runs allowed in 2.1 innings pitched.

As for Cory Mazzoni, he joins the Cubs after posting a 2.31 ERA in 11.2 innings pitched for the Iowa Cubs with a 12 strikeouts and just one walk. Mazzoni last appeared in the MLB with the San Diego Padres in September of last season. He posted a 13.50 ERA in 8.0 innings of work.
