Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/24/19): Montgomery Starts Cactus League Finale
The Cubs have a pair of games against the Red Sox to open next week, but Sunday marks the end of their Cactus League slate. Mark Zagunis leads off in right, Cristhian Adames is at third, David Bote bats third at second, and Jim Adduci cleans up at first.
Addison Russell is at short, Victor Caratini catches, Johnny Field is in left, Phillip Evans is at DH, and Wynton Bernard handles center. Not exactly a major league lineup, but we should see the regulars from here on out.
Mike Montgomery will be making the start as he looks to catch up a little on missing his early work due to a sore shoulder. It’s also a function of Yu Darvish testing his blister in a minor league game. Pay attention to Montgomery’s velocity, something he’s focused on this season. He would like to be sitting mid-90’s like he was prior to last season.
Following Monty out of the bullpen will be Brad Brach, Tyler Chatwood, Dillon Maples (who was optioned to Triple-A Saturday), and Allen Webster. With Junichi Tazawa being granted his release, Webster, who is out of options, could be a good bet to make the roster.
First pitch from Peoria Stadium is set for 2:10pm CT and will be carried by WGN and 670 The Score.
