Cubs Roster Moves: David Bote Activated, Alec Mills Optioned to AAA
David Bote wasn’t even gone long enough for the cheers from his walk-off single to die down. The infielder was left the team briefly to attend the birth of his third child, then headed back to Chicago in time to be activated for Wednesday’s game with the Dodgers.
There’s been no official word on whether Sullivan Bote was actually named for his father’s favorite local scribe, but early Vegas odds have it at 12-1 that the child grows up to be a Bond villain.
Alec Mills returns to Triple-A as his roster spot disappears, but you can bet on him being back at some point. Given the state of the bullpen and Brandon Morrow’s nebulous future, there’s sure to be a lot of action on the Iowa Shuttle over the course of the season.
