Cubs Roster Moves: INF/OF Jim Adduci Promoted, LHP Tim Collins Optioned
The Cubs made a roster move in advance of their series in Houston, calling up versatile position player Jim Adduci and sending reliever Tim Collins to Triple-A Iowa.

Adduci, 34, has played parts of four major league seasons with the Texas Rangers (2013-14) and Detroit Tigers (2017-18) and is a career .235 hitter (92-for-391) with 18 doubles, five home runs and 39 RBI in 149 big league games. He has seen action in the field at first base (55 games), right field (34 games) and left field (28 games). Adduci saw his most extensive major league time last year with the Tigers, batting .267 (47-for-176) with eight doubles, three home runs and 21 RBI in 59 games, all single-season bests.
The 2019 season marks a return to the Cubs organization for Adduci, as he played six minor league seasons for the Cubs from 2007-12, reaching as high as Triple-A during the 2010 and 2012 campaigns. With Iowa this year, Adduci is batting .261 (35-for-134) with eight doubles, seven homers and 29 RBI in 41 games. He joins the Cubs having hit .429 (12-for-28) with three homers and 11 RBI in his last eight games, including a six-RBI game yesterday at New Orleans.
Adduci was originally selected by the Florida Marlins in the 42nd round of the 2003 Draft out of Evergreen Park High School, located approximately 20 miles south of Wrigley Field. In 16 minor league seasons, Adduci is a career .286 hitter (1,075-for-3,761) with 180 doubles, 59 homers and 458 RBI in 1,068 minor league games.
