Craig Kimbrel Has Left Iowa, Could Be Activated Thursday
Craig Kimbrel hit 96 mph during a perfect inning Tuesday night in Iowa, signaling that he was ready to be activated. And as Tommy Birch of the Des Moines reports, the closer has indeed left the I-Cubs.
“Kimbrel’s very, very close,” Maddon told 670 The Score’s Laurence Holmes Wednesday afternoon. “He’s getting eager and we’re not going to be able to hold him back much longer. So, we’re going to probably make a move on that relatively soon.”
The Cubs won’t make a roster move Wednesday, but it’s entirely possible that Kimbrel will be in attendance for the game against the Braves. An activation in time for the series finale isn’t out of the question and you have to think Kimbrel would love to debut at Wrigley by facing his old team.
Check back for more, and Maddon and/or members of the front office will address the matter during pregame media availability.
