Tyler Chatwood Shifts Back to Pen, Adbert Alzolay to Start Monday
Adbert Alzolay is forcing the Cubs to keep him in the rotation for at least one more turn and he’ll get the start as the Cubs open a four-game series with Pittsburgh on Monday. Jon Lester, Yu Darvish, and Cole Hamels will follow, then the Cubs have a rare Friday off before facing the White Sox on the South Side next weekend.
Tyler Chatwood is being shifted back to the bullpen and will be available in relief during the series in Pittsburgh, which could signal Kyle Hendricks‘ return to the rotation. Or it just means the Cubs won’t need a sixth starter because the first half ends with that Sunday game against the Sox. The real decisions will come after the break, when Hendricks will be back and an expanded rotation won’t be necessary.
Stay tuned for more.
