Contreras will spend about a week at Triple-A. Rehab will include postseason play down there

Willson Contreras traveled with the Cubs to New York, where he’s been catching bullpen sessions and doing sprint drills in the outfield over the last two days. By all accounts both verbal and visual, he is at full health and should be ready to go very soon. That could come as soon as Sunday when rosters expand, but the Cubs may want to get him into some tune-up games first.
I'm told a Willson Contreras rehab stint starting in Des Moines this weekend is a possibility still. #Cubs

The Iowa Cubs are home through Monday and they’re a near lock for the playoffs, so they could offer additional opportunities for Contreras should he require additional rust removal. Even though that doesn’t appear to be necessary, the Cubs will exercise caution and can fall back on the capable duo of Jonathan Lucroy and Victor Caratini in the meantime.
Expect to hear more on this when media availability opens at Citi Field.
