Daniel Descalso Activated, Albert Almora Jr. Leads 6 September Promotions
Daniel Descalso has been activated from the injured list and rejoins the Cubs roster after a few weeks off to deal with an ankle injury that had been dogging him since May. Because rosters have expanded, no corresponding move was necessary. There were, however, several other transactions involving players coming back up from Iowa.

Albert Almora Jr., Taylor Davis, Robel Garcia, Alec Mills, Duane Underwood Jr., and Brad Wieck have all joined the Cubs in Chicago and will be available Sunday afternoon. Heck, Almora is in the starting lineup for the finale against the Brewers. Most of those names should be familiar to Cubs fans, since they’ve been up with the big club over the past two seasons.
The outlier there is Wieck, a big lefty who came over from San Diego in exchange for Carl Edwards Jr. Wieck was having trouble with his command during his time as a Padre, giving up several homers, but he’s got the ability to miss bats and he gives the Cubs another option out of the ‘pen.
Ben Zobrist has also rejoined the team, but he was activated from the restricted list Saturday night in order to make him eligible for the playoff roster. Because that move came prior to roster expansion, the Cubs optioned David Bote to Triple-A and designated Mark Zagunis for assignment.
