Watch: Theo Epstein Talks About Need For Diversity in Major League Baseball
Theo Epstein is a true leader in the baseball world and when he speaks people tend to listen. When he was asked on MLB Network about diversity in baseball, particularly in front offices, he didn’t sidestep the question.
He went on to mention multiple levels of baseball that clearly lack diversity within the ranks, including front office leadership, ownership circles, scouts, managers, and more. Epstein added that while his track record of hiring minorities is good by baseball standards, those same standards aren’t good enough and more work needs to be done to increase diversity across MLB.
“Since we are at this inflection point in history and this is the time we have to get it right, it really comes down to individuals being strong enough to look at their own shortcomings.” – @Cubs President of Baseball Ops Theo Epstein.
