Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/24/21): Davies on Bump, Rizzo 1B, Hoerner SS as Cubs Travel to Play Mariners
The Chicago Cubs travel to Peoria, Arizona tonight to take on the Seattle Mariners at 8:40pm CT. The Mariners spring training complex is about 40 miles from the Cubs facility at Sloan Park, so most of the regulars will not make the trip.
Batting leadoff for the Cubs and playing third base is Eric Sogard, he’s followed by David Bote at second, Anthony Rizzo at first, Jake Marisnick in center, and Cameron Maybin in right. Batting sixth tonight is Nico Hoerner at short, Rafael Ortega bats seventh playing left, PJ Higgins hits eighth and is catching for the Cubs.
Zach Davies will take the hill tonight for the Cubs. If all goes well we should get to see Davies for at least five innings, maybe six, as Manager David Ross gets the starters stretched out for the regular season.
Davies has been solid so far this spring allowing only four hits and one run over nine innings of play. He’s walked five batters as well, so look for Davies to try to establish control over the zone early tonight in an attempt to lower those free passes.
