Chicago Cubs Lineup (8/13/21): Alzolay on Bump, Duffy Leading Off, Wisdom Hitting Cleanup
The Chicago Cubs travel to Miami tonight to pay the Marlins in the first game of a series that may decide which team ultimately ends up with a higher draft pick. I suppose both teams will be trying to win but my guess is losing might be viewed more favorably by each team’s ownership.
Matt Duffy hasn’t been very good since returning from the IL, with just eight hits in 50 at-bats which is good for a .160 average. He’s at the top of the order tonight playing third, followed by Frank Schwindel at first, David Bote at second, Patrick Wisdom playing left, and Robinson Chirinos catching. Ian Happ hasn’t had a multi-hit game since July 2, and he’ll be batting sixth followed by Johneshwy Fargas playing center, and Sergio Alcantara playing short.
Adbert Alzolay has been decent this year for the Cubs, sporting a 4.71 ERA and, perhaps more importantly, a 3.89 xFIP. He hasn’t earned a win since June 2, but the odds may be in his favor if he pitches well against the Marlins.
Game time is 6:10pm CT and can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 The Score.
