Dodgers Reportedly Acquiring Joey Gallo from Yankees
In a move that could impact Ian Happ‘s market, the Dodgers have acquired Joey Gallo from the Yankees in exchange for righty pitching prospect Clayton Beeter. Unlike a broken-down car, the 23-year-old is ranked No. 15 in the system by MLB.com and is putting up huge strikeout numbers at Double-A. The walks are high as well, but 88 Ks in 51.2 innings is unreal, particularly for a starter.

All things considered, this is a very good get for the Yankees after the way things have gone with Gallo this season. It may be even better for Gallo, who is far more talented than his recent stats suggest and could benefit from a new environment.
This is not such a big move that it necessarily precludes the Dodgers from taking a swing at Happ and David Robertson, a move they’d reportedly been discussing, but it seems to lessen the odds. Or it could just mean Happ is already being dealt elsewhere.
