Chicago Cubs Lineup (10/4/22) – Quiroz Leads Off, Contreras Catching, Assad on Mound
The Cubs finally had their win streak snapped last night, but the can still finish the season on a high note with two remaining against the Reds. Javier Assad is on the mound again after an excellent start against the Phillies in which he took the win by pitching five scoreless innings. He had given up four runs in three of his four previous starts, so that last one was a nice change of pace.
Going for Cincy is 30-year-old righty Luis Cessa, who will be making his 10th start and 46th overall appearance of the season. His numbers don’t offer any indication that the Cubs should have trouble scoring tonight, though Cessa has produced the occasional gem. He’s not a big strikeout pitcher and he has been known to walk a batter or two, so it’ll be a matter of driving in those runners when they get a chance.
Esteban Quiroz leads off at second, Willson Contreras is catching, Seiya Suzuki is in right, and Ian Happ is in left. Nico Hoerner is the shortstop, Franmil Reyes is the DH, Patrick Wisdom is at third, and Alfonso Rivas is at first with Christopher Morel batting ninth in center.
First pitch is at 5:40pm CT on Marquee and 670 The Score.
