Cubs Finalizing Dansby Swanson Deal
David Kaplan first reported that the Cubs were finalizing a deal with Dansby Swanson, and it now appears the deal is done. Per Russell Dorsey, the deal is for $177 million over seven years and includes a full no-trade clause.
This looks like a relative bargain compared to the other deals signed by shortstops this winter. While Swanson’s $25.2 million AAV is not much lower that that of his colleagues, the reduced term of the deal is in the Cubs’ best interest.
More to come.
