The Cubs think very highly of Martin, who logged 18 innings with the Orioles in 2025. He posted a 44.2 percent groundball rate, along with 23 strikeouts and just nine walks.
Martin was drafted in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros and spent one season with their major league club in 2019. He has yet to receive a full season of consistent opportunities at the MLB level, with the 17 appearances he made in 2025 representing the most of his career.
His two primary pitches are a four-seam fastball and a slider. The fastball averages 95.9 mph, while his slider generated a 34.9 percent whiff rate in Baltimore last season.
15. The day Corbin Martin the Closer was born. He freezes Nathan Lukes for a huge second out in the top of the ninth, with the tying run on second and go-ahead on third. He'd ultimately get Bo Bichette swinging to end the game.
